I am a Chartered Physiotherapist specialising in the rehabilitation of people with amputations, multiple trauma and long term disabilities. I qualified as a Physiotherapist in 1986 from St. Mary’s Hospital School of Physiotherapy, London and worked in all areas of physiotherapy for five years, specialising in the field of rehabilitation in 1991. I undertook a Post Graduate Diploma from King's College, London (1992) in Management of the Amputee and now advise and mentor Physiotherapists undertaking this course. I have also trained in Bobath, PNF, Kinetic Control and Normal Movement techniques.

 

I worked as a Senior Physiotherapist at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Trust, Stanmore (1989-1997) in the Regional Spinal Injuries Unit, Trauma Unit, Paediatric Orthopaedic unit, Bone Tumour Unit and Disablement Services Centre (DSC), specialising in the rehabilitation of people with long term and multiple disabilities, including amputation and neurological conditions. My role included regular teaching, advising and lecturing on specialist physiotherapy rehabilitation. Prior to this I worked in Orthopaedic rehabilitation. I worked as Physiotherapy Clinical Specialist in Rehabilitation for 7 years at the Disablement Services Centre at Withington Hospital, Manchester undertaking the rehabilitation of multi-pathology patients with varying orthopaedic, neurological and vascular conditions and children with congenital limb abnormalities or limb loss.. I held this post until 2009 and am now in Private Practice undertaking private rehabilitation and working as a Medico-Legal Expert.

 

I am a founder member of the British Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Amputee Rehabilitation (BACPAR), and am co-author of the publication Evidence Based Clinical Guidelines for the Physiotherapy Management of Adults with Lower Limb Prostheses (March 2003), in conjunction with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. I regularly teach and lecture on various aspects of rehabilitation at local, national and international level and I have undertaken research in this speciality. My time is now spent split between clinical practice, lecturing and the preparation of Physiotherapy Expert legal reports in the specialist field of rehabilitation of clients with long term disabilities from trauma, limb loss, and long term disability for all age ranges of clients. I am a member of the Medico-Legal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists. I am a State Registered Physiotherapist, a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and I am on their list of recommended Physiotherapy Expert Witnesses.
